First and foremost, it is necessary to clarify that these three types of containers are all specially designed for extremely large, wide and heavy items. They share a high degree of similarity in essence, but there are certain differences in appearance and application scenarios.

In conclusion, the hard-top container (HOT) is most similar to the standard shipping container. Its roof panel can be completely removed, making it suitable for large items to be lifted in from the top. The top of the open-top containers is made of canvas tarpaulin, which makes them lighter in overall weight and more suitable for transporting extremely high goods. The flat-rack container only has the base and the two end plates. Users need to secure it with ropes for protection. It is perfectly suitable for extremely wide and long goods.
If the size of the goods is large but does not exceed the length and width of the container, and they need to be protected from rain and theft, then a hard-top container should be chosen as the first option.
If the goods are large in size but do not exceed the dimensions of the container, are not afraid of slight rain exposure, and your budget is limited, then an open-top container would be a better choice.
If the goods are too wide or too long to fit completely inside the container, then a flat-rack container would be the only option.
Notice:
1.When loading goods into a flat-rack container, the shipping company will charge an over-dimension surcharge. The more the goods exceed the limit, the higher the charge will be;There are two types——collapsible and non-collapsible,the collapsible models take up less space, while the non-collapsible ones are more sturdy.
2. If the top plate of the HOT container needs to be removed for use, it must be fixed together with the container for transportation. At the state,it is not suitable for long-term sea transportation.
3. The canvas of the soft open-top container is prone to damage. Users may face compensation. Moreover, this type of container cannot have a steel top plate installed rigidly!
